Whatever your style, when it comes to home decorating, sometimes it’s nice to make a statement and what better place to do it than to decorate your walls? The great thing is that you don’t have to be an interiors expert or a master crafter to achieve a great look that is sure to be a talking point among friends and family (for all the right reasons). These three projects are super simple, really effective and can be adapted to suit your home scheme. Also, if you are a crafter you can use these projects to make the most of any spare paper or fabric you have lying around. I promise you can finish all three makes leisurely over the course of day with time to pour yourself a cuppa and marvel at your creations.
1: Vintage time
Use your favourite fabric to make a statement time-piece. Using a Dannells Clock-Making kit, I chose a really colourful vintage floral material in vibrant shades to make a bold statement and have displayed this against a bright blue wall for the ultimate impact. It certainly brightens up the top of the mantelpiece.
If you are looking for something more subtle, a pink floral design would look fab contrasted with an on-trend grey background and a Liberty style ditzy print looks incredible on plain white.
This make is great for beginners with easy to follow instructions in the kit’s pack and you can choose black or white clock hands to suit your design.
2: Go mono
While bright colours can lift the spirits and invigorate the soul, there are some areas in the house where it’s cool to opt for a clean, stark scheme. I don’t think you can go wrong black and white sometimes. It can look very effective and stylish with the minimal effort.
I used three frames from Dannells Shabby Chic Frame starter pack and raided my craft stash for black and white paper designs and old drawings. So have a rummage for your favourite designs to create this simple but effective display – you don’t even have to repaint the frames. Remember with Dannells you can get your artwork or illustrations digitally printed for your picture frame. Your design will be printed on Photo Art Satin Paper.

Personalised artwork for the home is hugely popular, so create a piece that celebrates yourself or a member of your household with this really easy make. It would be great for a kid’s room or indeed you could create a gallery in your hallway featuring the initials of all your gang.
In a well ventilated area, spray a Dannells Shabby Chic picture frame with bronze paint. Wait for it to dry and paint over with chalk paint in the colour of your choice. Then lightly sand the dry paint covering to reveal areas of the metallic and white for a shabby chic effect.
Cover the oval picture backing board with wrapping or wallpaper and fix to the frame. Paint your chosen papier maché initial in a colour of your choice, once dry you can decorate by drawing a pattern on it with pen. Affix to the board as shown with double-sided tape.
